On this journey, we are looking for Senior Cloud Engineer (GCP) with 8+ years of experience to spearhead the modernization of a Digital Services Data Hub. The current infrastructure has been migrated to the cloud but still relies heavily on legacy on-premise patterns. The mission is to transform this environment into a modern, cost-efficient, highly observable, and serverless platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

You will operate at the intersection of Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Data Analytics, helping to improve developer experience, platform reliability, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish a “Golden Path” for CI/CD using GitHub Workflows, simplifying GCP deployment processes for development teams.
• Audit, optimize, and maintain Terraform infrastructure using modular and reusable components.
• Lead the migration from fragmented monitoring and alerting solutions to a unified Dynatrace implementation.
• Improve platform observability, reliability, and data pipeline health.
• Drive cloud cost optimization and implement effective cost-governance practices.
• Guide and mentor team members by clearly explaining architectural and technical decisions.
• Promote AI-assisted development practices using GitHub Copilot.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience building, scaling, and maintaining complex systems.
• 4+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud platforms and/or data platforms.
• Strong preference for experience within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.

Observability & Monitoring

• 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing enterprise monitoring solutions.
• Strong expertise with Dynatrace for monitoring infrastructure, applications, workloads, and data pipelines.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

• 3+ years of production experience with Terraform.
• Expert-level knowledge of GitHub Actions and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience automating cloud deployments and operational processes.

Cloud Engineering

• Deep expertise in:
  • Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS, IAM, Cloud Run, Networking)
  • Linux
  • Docker
  • Bash scripting
• Google Cloud certifications are a plus.

Data Ecosystem

• Experience managing JVM-based applications, preferably Spark workloads.
• Understanding of data engineering and data science concepts.

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).
• Team player with experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and engage stakeholders when needed.
• Experience conducting code reviews and maintaining high engineering standards.

Nice to Have

• Google Cloud certifications.
• Experience in modern serverless architectures.
• Experience working in data-intensive environments.
